Summer School – Creative Writing & Art

If you’re anything like me you love writing and art equally and pretty much all things creative so this summer school is perfect for such exquisite indecision. You no longer need to choose between the two things you love because you can do both!

I’m excited to share the dates of a whole blissful week of summer art and creative writing workshops based on the theme of ‘Place’ at the new and fabulous Coach House Studio in Malvern. I’m running the creative writing sections and my lovely artist friend, Marie-Therese King, will be overseeing the arty sessions. But we’ll both also be doing both! Marie-Therese King is a renowned batik artist based in Malvern – you can find out all about her work in the latest edition of Landscape magazine.

During this immersive week we’ll be taking you through expressive drawing and creative writing exercises and prompts before exploring writing and drawing from place and nature in a variety of different genres and forms.

The stunning Malvern Hills are just a stone’s throw away and has been home to key literary and cultural figures, most notably Tolkien, C.S.Lewis and Elgar. We’ll take you on a sketch and scrawl crawl, tuning into different settings, exploring soundscape as well as natural forms.

The rest of the five days will be studio-based as we help you to develop your creative practice in poetry and descriptive writing, painting and drawing.

All ages and stages in your creative journey welcome. Treat yourself to an immersive week with like-minded people in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Coach House Studio.
